Today may be the last Wednesday post that comes from my trusty laptop.  After  3 years of diligent service, my hard drive is making that “dice rolling” noise that means that it is about to be as lively as a game of bingo in a nursing home.  I might not be a fortune teller, but I see of nights in and spaghetti’s in my future.  Don’t fret; I solemnly swear that I will scrounge together $10 every Wednesday to buy a bottle of wine.  After all, my sanity depends on it.

As a little girl I always thought that people that worked this hard made lots of money.  Oh how cute I was, instead working long hours while you have the flu means you get to buy a computer you can’t afford.  I just keep clicking my heels together and saying “someday this will pay off.”  When that day comes I’m sure my writing will be less of a rant about my misgivings about my life as a struggling writer, day jobber, side jobber.. Well you get the point.

Getting back to the reason you are all probably reading this, today’s vino is yet another from Chile.  It comes from a rather picturesque region of Chile located near the coast. Quintay Sauvignon Blanc seems to embody the bright crisp water of the ocean it hails from.   There is a very invigorating flavor that grabs you like a good book, and is as juicy as a good piece of gossip.  At first taste your mouth is filled with a robust grassy note that is rather prominent, but subtle enough to be enjoyable.  Earthy gives way to a piquant chili-pepper note reminiscent of a chili pepper thriving on a foundation of zesty grapefruit.  The flavors in the wine are surprising, yet subtle. If Brooklyn had a flavor, I imagine it would taste something like this; less flashy than the other cities, but more well homey and balanced and just as enjoyable.  Try it with Winter veggies like leeks and Asparagus for a nice complement.

Keep you wallets full and your mouths happy!
