Layer Cake Chardonnay
“Whats in a name”.. . a good wine! Much like last week’s cakey named wine, this bottle is fantastic! It is a bit of a hidden treasure, it’s not at every liquor store you have to do a little searching to find it. Don’t worry it’s not as hard as finding Waldo but I promise it is worth the trek. I would walk to Guam for it! The bottle itself cost around $10 (sometimes on sale!) but tastes like a million bucks. The flavor reminds me of a lemon merengue pie; light and creamy yet has a crisp citrus note. There are hints of guava and pineapple laced throughout, giving it a fruity yet tangy body. Much like a lingering kiss it is soft, yet zesty enough to leave you wanting more. It’s the kind of wine that makes you feel like you’re running barefoot through an orchard in the middle of the summer or diving headfirst into a wave. Either way it’s invigorating, sweet, surprising, and intoxicating (literally). It’s so good even the “Most Interesting Man in the World” would toss aside his Dos Equis and become a wino. Good pairings include seafood, chicken, pasta; the standard lighter fare. That doesn’t mean can you can’t drink it by itself. I like to unwind with a glass, close my eyes and enjoy the sweet sweet symphony of flavors. Try it for yourself and soon you too will love it as much as Sonny the Cuckoo Bird loves his coco puffs.
