Hold on to your valuables ladies and gentlemen cause this week’s wine is a steal with a wrap sheet to prove it.   It has won 18 Gold Medals and 5 Best Buys since 2007.  You would think that something that decorated would cost a fortune, but this little gem is only $5 dollas. That’s right for the same price as a chain restaurant foot long sandwich; you can get one delicious bottle of vino. Though I have to wonder how something this good can be so affordable, I have found it is best not to look a gift horse in mouth.

I stumbled across this little gem while perusing the liquor store for a birthday bottle for my older, yet somehow not entirely wiser sister.  It was the price tag that caught my eye, after all how can you pass up something so enticing that only cost $5.  A deal that good is enough to make you think you should follow the Yellow Brick Road and dance with Munchkins.  So I decided to get myself a present along with my sisters, and boy did I hit the jackpot.

When I took my first sip I was happier than a grandma who just won bingo at the church.  My mouth was filled with the subtle pucker of ripe lemon, and the sweet nectar of a summer melon.  The flavor reminded me of the lovely bright sweetness of a lemon water ice, the taste of summer as a kid.  The wine itself is very light and refreshing, most likely due to the fact that it has only 13% alcohol.  But hey, beggars can’t choosers.  Twisted Pinot Grigio is like the Chinese nail salon of wines, it does a good job at the fraction of the cost.   For those of us that “work hard for the money” it definitely treats you right.

Keep you wallets full and your mouths happy!
